It started our final summer in college. A simple suggestion, “The World Cup begins tonight. We should watch it.”
That night much of the mechanics were made; score multipliers and team selection process.
Fake news articles, skills challenges, and the golden alarm clock were to follow that same summer.
Now 24 years later what began in the unique context of college life has continued as a tradition that now includes three generations and memories weaved through decades of life.
I am so thankful for that apartment in Lubbock. I am so thankful for the friends I shared it with. I am so thankful for a tradition which has lasted and reminds us of how good home was to us and keeps our relationship connected and alive.
