A Gift Given, For a Time. A Gift Received, Which Will Remain

The angle of the tree just above the Louis Herrington School of Nursing sign.  Isn’t it perfect?  A sculptor who has perfected the art of asymmetry with balance.  A dancer or athlete who has fine-tuned their body to exactly execute each command.  And do you see the smaller tree below?  How like a child mimicking the ways of their parent.  Beauty and form deserving of a copy-cat.

What a gift this has been for me.  Day after day, week after week, for 14 years now.  Seeing, enjoying this place.  Having this postage stamp of the Dallas landscape speak and minister to me.  Be there for me.

I wrote this some years back.  Now the school of nursing is soon to be remodeled or perhaps demolished.  The trees, they are already gone.

I discovered this last week and there I stood; reverent, mournful.  “The trees, they are gone.”

Thankfully, some years back I had taken time to reflect on why I so liked these trees.  What they meant to me.

He is a God who is unseen, that is not to say He is a God who is hiding.  At least for me, in this place, He is found.

To ask to be given eyes that see is a priceless gift.  To have something in you turned and attuned, to be aware and receive what all around you is being offered.

Did anyone else pause and feel the loss of these trees?  I hope so.  Realized or not, those trees and the landscaping around them was a gift.  The trees themselves, but perhaps more so the trees at tutors, to help awaken and train in us what I recorded above.  Finding.  Receiving.

I have not yet decided, arrived at what this site is?  What my writings and postings are aiming at?  For Christians?  For doubters?  For seekers?  Is it specifically and blatantly about God?  Or is just an overflow of observations, responses, thoughts found in me?

Every good and perfect gift.  Coming from an always good, never changing Father.  Full of light.  That is a claim to the substance of reality made by Christian Scripture.

Those trees; rooted in earth, reaching to sky.  They suggest to me this claim is true.
