The Tale of Two Marys

So yes, I think I combined the stories of two Marys into one. These last weeks have incorporated events from both the life of Mary Magdeline and Mary of Bethany.
Creative liberty taken, here is my goal: To help answer this question, “How do we grow in love, adoration, devotion to Jesus?”
In the lives of Mary Magdeline and Mary of Bethany I think we have an answer, a model, our goal.
If the devotion of my heart can approximate to theirs my life has been a success.
If I can create and share content that promotes this pursuit in others then that is worth the best that I can give it.
And where might their love, their loyalty, their devotion have come from? Two Marys, both whole hearted for Jesus. I will suggest two phrases which might lend to such love and devotion.
First from Luke 7:36-50. The phrase I suggest, “Forgiven much, loved much.” The woman in Luke 7 knew she had been forgiven much. From this, much love was awakened. You want to love Jesus more? Spend time deepening your understanding of how much He has forgiven you.
My second phrase will come from Luke 10:38-42. “At His feet, in His Word.” Spend time in Jesus’ presence. Make much time in Jesus’ Word. His presence, His Word, these will grow in us a deep love and intimate devotion.
As we see how much He has forgiven us. As we draw near to Him in His Word. We will see ourselves growing in such love, such devotion.
Here are the Scriptures which served as inspiration for each piece.
Week 1: Her tears . . .
Mark 16:9b
Luke 7:36-50
Week 2: Tell of Her Too
Matthew 26:6-13
Luke 10:38-42
Week 3: At the Tomb
John 20:10-18
Get into the Word. Bring in some worship. Fall more deeply in love.
